Default Is it ok to refreeze beef hotdogs?

Walmart has cases of fully cooked bun length Angus hotdogs but there are 40 in the pack and already frozen. I wanted to thaw them enough to separate into five 8 packs, vacuum seal and refreeze. Any harm in this? Thanks.

Was refreezing ever a problem? My mom used to say that, but I always thought it was just an old wive's tale.

I read arguments about how more than one thaw and re-freeze cycle can degrade some brands, and you will avoid that when packaging in smaller amounts. But you might be surprised how little thawing (or spraying with cool water) is needed for them to flake apart. I thaw 6# packs of linked sausages to freeze in 2-packs, and they are still 80% frozen when they break apart.

That's basically what I did. I let them sit out for about 30mins until I could separate with a butter knife. They were still a bit icy when I vac sealed. I just didn't know if refreezing a partially thawed surface would affect the taste. I'm about to do 10 on the Weber. If they are good I might buy another case as I love a good grilled hotdog.
