1st attempt smoked meat loaf LIVE

I've been wanting to smoke something, but have been pressed for time lately, so I decided to do something not time consuming that I have never tried before. Smoked meatloaf.... we'll see how it goes. Pitmaker LR Sniper (for sale) is throwing thin blue smoke as we speak... cherry wood and first time using the LSG basket.. windy day is not really helping the offset.

I love meat loaf, but I have honestly never tried to smoke it. Not the best day for it, but you take what you're given.

Looks great, fellow Kentuckian. Yes on the bourbon but pass on the stogie (only because I quit smoking and don't want to be tempted to start again).
Be prepared to make more smoked meatloaf's. They are so you may not want to cook them any other way now.

Thanks William.. I'm on Bardstown Rd., near the Bullet Co. Line... where are you at in Louisville?

Looks great! Smoked meatloaf annoys my wife as meatloaf was one of the things she used to cook and she’ll admit that my smoked version is better.

smokeisgood 05-09-2021 07:41 PM

Off the smoker.... let this puppy rest for 15 minutes... which may be hard, cuz the smell is off the hook!!!

Money money money money....... Money!!!!!

After 3 slices, I'm working on the meat sweats..... may never eat oven meat loaf again. Have to give it up to Heath Riles, since it was his recipe.

Nice I will try a mix of cow and pig next time I usually only use moo meat

smokeisgood 05-09-2021 09:52 PM

As much as l love meat loaf, I actually had no idea how to make it... never have. I didn't realize it had pork in it, or maybe that's just the smoked version for moisture.

NoOne 05-09-2021 09:52 PM

Nicely done

Nuco59 05-10-2021 05:30 AM

Meatloaf is another of those things that I stopped doing in the kitchen oven once I discovered how good it could be off the smoker.

Your post reminds me that it's been too long since my last one-

appreciated.

Looks awesome.
Has it been raining in your part of Kentucky also?
Rain and cool here.

Yes, yesterday was cloudy, but Sunday when I did this cook it was raining and windier than all get out. (I live up on a hill, so that doesn't help). It was maybe 55 degrees. Today is Sunny and nice.

Nice job! Looks spectacular!

Count me as another that, once having tasted the wonder that is the smoked meat loaf, can never go back to the baked version again.

I think I may have one in the freezer....time to go defrost!

Well, as many briskets, butts and ribs as I've smoked on this pit over the years, I never would have thought the last cook on it would have been the meatloaf. But, the Pitmaker is sold. Now, I thought I'd be excited as that means tomorrow I order a new smoker, but I'm just a little more than sad. It was a great smoker, just didn't fit my needs anymore. Southern Q here I come....
