JConcepts introduces a One Size Fits Most Manta V2 body. With no pre-determined marks, the V2 body includes mounting templates and a guide to make body mounting short work. With confirmed drop-on placement for the Slash, Slash 4×4, SC10, SC10 4×4, XXX-SCT, SCT-E, Ultima SC, HPI Blitz and Durango DESC410R the Manta V2 fits the biggest variety of the most popular SCT trucks in one fell-swoop. Boom!

The original Manta body set the standard for amazing performance while sending an outright buzz through the short course nation with its authentic styling. The V2 version is not just one of the most versatile bodies ever created, it’s also one of the most highly detailed, refined and high performance bodies ever released from JConcepts.

The menacing stance of the Manta has been preserved with the high coverage dual headlight and grill design. The front-end features include the above wheel well vents, center louvers and softened wheel wells to offer increased tune-ability and durability while maintaining the exclusive design. The stance of the cab is amongst the most aggressive in class, providing a sleek and scale performance. Recessed windows with the extra cab are unmistakable short course cues while the rear bed and deck area now sport the stylish number and name plate. A simplified rear bumper cut-line and softened detail adds style and durability to an already steady design.

The Manta V2 body includes detailed headlight, grill and taillight decal sheet which also includes various Manta and JConcepts brand logos. When it comes to the Manta V2 body, being versatile, refined and high performance is an understatement. JConcepts is World Proven Innovation and Design.

Features:

* Fits most all 1/10th SCT’s – over 9 different trucks
* Original JConcepts short course styling
* Scale inspired body, cab and window design
* Aggressive headlight and grill treatment
* Stylish number and name plates with mounting hardware
* Front and rear fender flares for maximum clearance * Extended cab with recessed windows
* Mounting templates and guide for variety of trucks
* Clear heavy-duty polycarbonate with protective film
* Window masks and detailed decal sheet

Revo®, JATO™, T-MAXX™, SLASH®, SLASH 4X4® etc. are trademarks and registered trademarks of Traxxas L.P.

All bodies are sold clear and are shown painted for advertising purposes only.
Team Durango shows how to build their DNX408 Shocks.

Shock absorbers are what keep your DNX408 glued to the track so getting them built ‘right’ is important to get the best handling car. We polled some of our experienced team drivers for information on how they build their shocks so we could write a little guide to cover some of the areas where doing things the correct way can make a difference.

Trim any excess from the piston – carefully

Use mininal red threadlock

The first step to get your shock absorbers built correctly is to attach the piston to the shaft. Make sure there is no excess flashing on the piston to ensure smooth movement. If there is any excess flashing, carefully trim it off. The piston attaches to the shaft with a screw that will need to be threadlocked. Here you can either use the red Team Durango threadlock provided in your DNX408 kit VERY sparingly, or use some less aggressive blue threadlock from a third party. If you use too much red threadlock you might find it very hard to remove the small screw when you want to change pistons in the future. If this happens, you might have to soak the parts in acetone to break-down the threadlock.

Insert the shaft and piston into the shock body as we will use this to help build the seals and guides into the bottom of the shock body. Pull the shock shaft all the way out of the bottom to expose the threads, and give these a plentiful dousing of shock oil. The oil will allow you to push the o-rings over the threads without damaging them and ensure the shock seal assembly is fully pre-lubed and ready for use. If needed, you can put another drop of oil on before the second o-ring.

Lube your shaft well

Place the o-rings and spacers on, using more oil as you go

The lower shaft guide should sit flush with the face of the red anodised lower cap. The part looks similar on both sides and could easily confuse you into thinking you can assemble them either way around. One side has a slightly smaller diameter and will sit down properly in the lower cap. You can test this easily by pushing it from the outside of the cap and testing which side ‘clicks’ into place. You can then push the shaft through the guide whist keeping hold of the red cap.

The lower shaft guide is sided – small side down.

Test the fit on the outside of the bottom cap to get the correct orientation, then push the shaft through.

With all the seals and guides in place, liberally oil the parts and carefully push them into the shock body. The red bottom cap is the final part to be assembled. You can put a dab of threadlock on the lower threads where the cap rests to ensure it won’t work loose.

Cover the assembled o-rings and guides – as well as shaft with more oil

After covering in oil – push the guides and o-rings in carefully

Slide the rubber shock boot over the shock shaft and attach the lower shock rod end to the shaft. You can use the piston screw to slowly screw the shaft into the rod end and avoid scratching the shaft. Of course to un-fasten this you’ll need to use something to clamp the shaft itself.

With the bottom cap o-ring in place around the threads, screw on the bottom cap.

You can use the piston screw to attach the rod end.

Filling the shocks properly with oil is an important step and one you shouldn’t overlook the importance of this stage. With the shaft extended all the way out, fill the shock body with oil until it’s a few milimeteres from the top. Slowly push the shock shaft in and out a few times to work-out any air bubbles and then put the shock absorber assembly aside for the remaining air to bubble out. A good tip here is to use a couple of wheels stacked up and simply pop the shock through and allow it to sit. After sitting for a few minutes, top-up the oil in the damper until it’s at the top.

There are a couple of different ways of attaching the shock cap and diaphragm. Our team drivers use both of these methods. The first, and simplest, way is to push the diaphragm into the top cap – taking care to ensure it is fully seated and the shape is intact. Push in the shock shaft to set rebound and place the cap over the now filled damper body and slowly start to screw it down. Once you’ve got a few threads down, angle the shock slightly and hold the cap steady with the bleed-hole facing upwards. Rotate the shock whilst keeping the cap steady as this will let the excess air out. Tighten the top cap with finger pressure.

Another method that some of our drivers use is to push the shock shaft in to set the rebound and then place the diaphragm into the top of the shock body. Using your index finger, push the diaphragm in and gently shuffle the diaphragm until it’s properly seated. Pull down the shock shaft to put some negative pressure on the diaphragm and keep it in place while you attach the top cap and tighten it with finger pressure.

This can get messy

Gently press down the diaphragm and wiggle it round to seat it fully

After pulling down the shaft, carefully attach the top cap making sure not to displace the diaphragm

Setting the rebound the same on each side is important but actual settings are down to personal preference and track conditions. Rebound can be thought of like an air-spring which works in combination with the coil spring. More rebound will stiffen the suspension as the damper is compressed. Less rebound can allow the suspension to move freely and soak up the bumps. More rebound will handle big landings better and give more ‘pop’ off the lip of a jump as the suspension compresses and releases when the car takes off.

Finish off the shocks by cleaning all the excess oil off that might have spilt / been ejected during the build. You can use motor spray / brake cleaner to clean up the dampers but be sure not to get any on the seals as this can cause them to swell up.

Extensively tested by the likes of multiple World Champion Brian Kinwald the DESC410R takes the finest of Team Durango’s design elements, toughness, handling and ability to put the power down on the track where it counts.

-Big Bore dampers are standard equipment on the DESC410R they handle the biggest landings and roughest terrain better than anything else – it’s that simple. More oil means that the FAT shocks don’t have to work as hard, plus they stay more consistent through a run as well as soaking up monster jumps. With three piston options in the kit, you’ve got all the tuning you need to handle any track you’ll encounter on your way to the podium.

-The chassis on our SC truck is built like no other – with an alloy sandwich construction making a super tough and rigid platform to hang the rest of the truck from. Toughness is important when you go wheel-to-wheel, and the whole suspension system and drivetrain is designed to take the punishment of top-flight competition racing.

-A CNC machined, 7075 T6, front suspension hanger works alongside an alloy hanger on the rear end of the car to make the DESC410R capable of taking the knocks that full-contact racing provides.

-550 motors are the new standard in 4WD Short Course and the DESC410R is designed from the ground-up to handle the incredible power these motors can put out – whether it’s the included Module-1 spur gear option, the tough drivetrain, the large drive hex or the centre slipper/differential option – the DESC410R can handle the power and make it count on the track.

-48DP and Module-1 spur gears are both included in the kit – so you can run the ‘regular’ 48DP gears in controlled class racing or choose the BIG gears to handle the power of the 550 class motors.

-The DESC410R uses oil-filled differentials at either end of the truck for long-lasting tuning. Dial your car into any track condition

-The DESC410R comes with a heavy duty racing slipper to protect the drivetrain or help smooth the truck out on high grip surfaces. Remove the diff-locker though and with a few low-priced option parts you can add an oil-filled centre slipper option to your arsenal to really smooth out your ride.

-Oversized and future-proof 15mm drive hexes handle the raw torque of the powerful 550 motors and give a stable platform to the wheels. The hex is narrow to minimise wheel off-set and allow the suspension to sit further out – optimizing race geometry, and giving you the edge.

-The low centre of gravity design of the DESC410R has a near perfect weight distribution front-to-rear and side-to-side, for predictable and stable handling corner to corner, time and again. The compact layout keeps body roll to a minimum yet has plenty of room for electrics whilst the optional under-body cover can be purchased separately to protect the electronics from the worst conditions you’ll see on any race track.

-The DESC410R has all race geometry and setup-options you need to race at the top level – placing it at the forefront of the new 4WD SC class. Do your bragging on the race track where it counts.

-Lightweight race bumpers sit at the front and rear of the car, with a full width front bumper, a small rear bumper and side impact – absorbing ‘nerf’ guards – all designed to be as lightweight as possible without sacrificing strength.

-Looks is what Short Course is all about – and our lightweight race wheels retain a realistic scale appearance to fit with the SC ideology. They’re designed to handle the power without the weight penalty. Standard tire fitment is a feature of the wheels – so using the tires that are suitable for your favourite track won’t be a problem.

Short Course Trucks are the hottest segment in RC surface these days, and who’s best at making great upgrades that actually improve reliability and give insane speed? Castle, of course.

We’ve teamed with Hobbico to bring the Mamba Max Pro SCT ESC and Neu-Castle 1415-2400kv motor combo to customers who want to take the next step in speed and reliability beyond their stock brushless setup.

Question: So wait a minute, the motor in this combo has a lower Kv than the stock motor, how can it be faster or better?

Answer: Kv doesn’t equal power — these motors are almost 100% more powerful than most stock brushless setups. Ours are four pole motors, with higher quality components designed for improved torque. So go ahead, gear it higher than the stock motor and you’ll really feel the difference — even with the same cell count!

Still want to race? There are lots of tracks allowing “550″ size motors (like the Novak HV, etc,) and this system is designed to compete against those 550 can size motors.

Mamba Max Pro SCT is built for speed, but it’s also a torque monster, able to dig out of tall grass, sand, you name it.

Easy to Install:
The Neu-Castle 1415 motor bolts right in and the ESC wires are ready to connect to the motor. Just add your battery connector to the ESC and you are ready to rip.

Suggested Applications:
1/10 2wd and 4wd vehicles weighing 6.5lbs or less ready to run with batteries installed. Run this combo with up to 4S max cells. Don’t forget, this is a 4 pole motor, so you can gear it higher than 2 pole motors of higher KV.

Mamba Max Pro SCT combo includes:
• Mamba Max Pro SCT Edition ESC
• Neu-Castle 1415 2400 kv motor
• CC Blower fan shroud

It has been said that the devil is in the details, and while that is a debatable statement there is no denying that the Tense wheels for the Slash 2wd from JConcepts are as detailed as they come. Tense wheels are a glue-on, all-out competition inspired wheel from the ground up to withstand heavy abuse and perform under even the most demanding situations. The Tense wheel design begins with a scale appeal and functionality that separates itself from the rest. Heavy duty black nylon material and 12mm beefy hex design combine to form the ultimate in scale and performance.

Topping off the appearance of the wheel are 2 optional open and closed center caps, one with JC logo for authenticity and brand loyalty. With 2 solid and 2 open center caps included, the driver now has the option for complete show with a closed cap or performance and function with the open cap. The center caps are secured to the wheel with included 6 – 2.5x8mm button head screws.

Although it is not certain that the devil is in the details, the Tense wheels from JConcepts are undeniably evil at best.

The Raptor SVT – F-150 body by JConcepts begins with the latest in 1:1 truck detail by incorporating the latest treatment in grill and headlight design, adding street appeal. Front and rear fender flares provide the clearance necessary to run an assortment of tires and wheels while maintaining that exclusive design and look.

Deep recessed trim-out locations along the hood and bed area provide ample space for air relief cut-outs which reduce the parachute / blow-over affect that is so common in Short Course racing.
