Darksoul Racing releases new Baja 5T/5B shock shafts & rod ends
For those of you with a Baja 5T, one thing that is a constant PITA for most of us is broken shock rod ends. The T weighs in several pounds heavier than the buggy, but still utilizes the same suspension components, so….. some stronger bits are in order.
The first is the shock shafts with aluminum rod ends. This unique aluminum rod end is a 4 piece design consisting of the aluminum housing and a rubber bushing with 2 aluminum flanged spacers to allow for misalignment of the shock through it’s articulation. This system is very strong, so no more broken off shock ends, but will require regular inspection and maintenance to ensure proper performance, however, the rod end is completely, and inexpensively rebuildable.
The complete shaft kit comes in pairs of either fronts or rears, they are for the VVC style shocks only (not RTR), and includes -
2 shafts
2 aluminum rod ends
4 bushing spacers
4 bushings (includes 2 spare)
4 o-rings (for shaft seal rebuild)
We will also be offering the aluminum rod ends separately as well, they fit of course the DS shafts as well as other aftermarket VVC style threaded shafts. The Rod End kit consists of-
2 aluminum rod ends (anodized gray)
4 bushings (includes 2 spare)
4 bushing spacers
Also available is the Rebuild Kit, this kit comes with the following pieces to easily replace wearable components of the rod ends-
– 8 aluminum bushing spacers
– 8 rubber bushings
For those of you that want a little further explanation of the assembly of the rod ends, here you go-
1. A layout of the parts used per shock shaft
2. The rubber bushing is inserted into the aluminum rod end
3. The aluminum bushings are inserted into the rubber bushing, one from each side.
4. The rod end is threaded onto the shaft.
