| Why and how does this kit cost 380 dollars? Carbon fiber isn't very expensive and the setup seems simple. |

| You might be looking at the old SCX-60 listing on the online store, the hand-built prototypes that SpeedyDad made. I don't think they've got the production SCX-60CF chassis on the online store yet, they just started shipping the "I know a guy who knows a guy" preorders. The other thing you have to realize is this is about as close to a garage-based chassis manufacturer as the R/C industry gets, they don't have nearly the kinds of financial resources that other brands do. Case-in-point with their X-5 4x4 buggy. They didn't stop making them because the car got outdated or sales slipped, they stopped making X-5's because the mold for the chassis pan cracked and they couldn't afford to have it repaired. | Well it's touted as a conversion kit for an SC10, but from looking at the SCX-60CF there's so little of the SC10 left I'd almost wonder if it didn't cost less to just get the kit and assemble the rest of the truck from parts, or find some half-built basketcase on eBay to sacrifice. My SCX-60, structurally the only thing that got left alone was the front clip. Everything from the steering bellcranks back either got replaced or swallowed up in the kit. It still uses Associated components like shocks, driveshafts, rear axle carriers, and turnbuckles. The transmission gears, differential, and clutch are all Associated 4th-gen, but they've all been placed in XFactory's trans case and a second idler gear's been added to get the drivetrain turning in the right direction since everything's on backwards. |

| I have a complete SCX-60 that has been sitting on the shelf collecting dust. I ran it a few times and really liked the way it handled but have since started running a Losi 22 and XXX-SCT. I have been considering selling the truck but if I could switch it to the Carbon Fiber chassis it might be worth holding on to. |

| I hounded Paul & Chazz over on RCTech about putting together a "conversion for the conversion" SCX-60CF pack, for those of us who already had the SCX-60 or another X-car and didn't need stuff like the shock tower, transmission, motor plate, bumper mount, etc. Last I heard though on the subject was that the final price point would be nearly the same between the two setups, so AFAIK they're only offering the whole SCX-60CF kit, with individual replacement chassis components also for sale. So which SCX-60 chassis do you have? Been trying to locate #31... |

| The CF version is simply amazing. By far the best handling car I have ever owned. Problem with that is, I'm not used to having something that handles this great, so I tend to drive cautious instead of pushing the truck hard like I should. But that's a good problem to have. Pretty soon I'll be putting Kyosho Big Bore Shocks on it using CF Towers from SpeedyDad. A-Main has the kit in stock. Have you priced carbon fiber sheeting? I guess not. And it is not like it's the cheapest material to machine either. Not a fan of the truck, just saying. | |
