Hey Jason.

Got the chassis yesterday. Simply STUNNING! Seriously has to be the best looking CF chassis I’ve ever seen. I will be posting pre-pix (just the chassis) on my blog on the Driver site as well as doing the build on my personal site (www.CompetitionX.com).

Great job! This is going to be a fantastic build!

I will confirm with Tony and get back to you. It is the centerfold right now of the current RC Driver Short Course edition magazine. This is one of our Factory drivers. Mark Surprenant.

Are these kits ready to be shipped? I am wondering what the lead time is going to be on my kit after I place my order?

This may have been asked already somewhere else, but I'll ask it here...

Under normal usage, screws in and out, racing, etc., what are the chances of having the magnesium becoming exposed and at risk of fire? I'd hate to have something kick up out of the dirt, chip it and woof!

It does not work like that. Many cars have MAG wheels. There is magnesium everywhere. As a solid its very safe. If you grind a bunch of mag dust and set your cigarette on it or touch it with an open flame then it can become a hazz. Their are mag race car bodies. The gearcase of military helicopters are magnesium etc etc. The real danger is to TRCE who has barrels of mag chips from machining sitting around and also during the machining process. We take end mills and burry them into magnesium blocks to make parts. A rock wouldnt do a thing :)

Some questions for TRCE here:

Got any (high-res) pictures of the chassis mounted?
Really looks interesting on the (very small) CAD drawings.
But I'd really like to be able to see what I get before I put the money down.

As for the a-arms, your site says there are pins included?
Are those hinge pins? If so, do your a-arms require special hinge pins?
Because, if I'm not able to use my Lunsford pins with your a-arms, this would be a real deal breaker for me.

I have posted high res pictures on this site already. Those are not cad drawings. Yes pins are included. Lundsford pins work great. That is what were using right now. I will repost the pics here. Look at the Lundsford pins in the pic. :)

Wow, realy looks amazing. Some of those pictures look just so polished, allmost too nice to be real, that's why I assumed they were CAD drawings.
Thank's for reposting the pics, I couldn't find them before, but I think this thread is the right place for those pics anyhow.
Good to hear that you actually use Lunsford pins.
But how do you decide what pins you include with ordered a-arms since the outer front pins are longer than the outer rear pins?

And how thick are those shock towers? And have you tried the D8 shock conversion with them?

Thanks. The pictures were taken by the RC Driver magazine photographer and were graciously given to us to use. This truck in the the picture was an early prototype and THE truck raced by Mark Surprenant. Since the pictures were taken we have made a few changes. We added ribbing to the towers to increase virtical strength. The new improved design yielded much higher strength in the cad stress test. The rc driver build will have the updated towers. The pins in our design are the same length front to back and are held in with a set screw. Similiar to the sc10 4x4 shock pin. But the lundsford pins will also work. We have used stock traxxas shocks, proline shocks, sc10 4x4 shocks, and Losi 2.0 shocks. You will have to add the mounting hardware you need for conversions. I am not a fan of the traxxas big bore shocks as the front shocks are short and did not work well.

Tony told me it will be in the October issue. I didnt realize they were so far ahead with their deadlines. As his deadline for the october issue is the end of June. My mistake and my appologies. Tony will be doing a build on his blog.

Video looks good! Mark seems to have quite a bit of fun with his truck

@TRCE:Guess that's a no on "have you tried the D8 conversion with your shock towers" ?
And still, how thick are those shock towers?

New questions:
Are those really button head screws in the front where the bumper mounts? You really sure that's a good idea?
And do you think you could get something in the likes of a rock/mud guard onto the right side of the chassis?
Maybe just put the holes in there so those who want can use the TeknoRC V3/V4 rock guards on the right side of the chassis?

Only downside of your parts, I need to wait till late summer to get the money aside for the complete kit

I am not at the shop right now so i cannot give you the exact thickness of the towers. The screws in the bumper work great. The areas were screws will be removed ofter for service (diff fluid changes) were selected for reasons. I will take a look at your suggestion, the guards look interesting but i dont see the real benefit from them. However we cannot make our parts so universal that if fits everything. Its an open class vehicle and racers will have to make their adjustments and mods to make it to their liking. We have not done the D8 conversion but if it works on a stock slash their is no reason it will not work on ours.

I just called into the shop and had Matt (my partner) give me the dimensions for the updated design

shock tower base = .250"
center section = .280"
arms = .236"

dimensions include the ribbing.

Were going to take a closer look at the Tekno guards.
