Looking to remove some of the flex from the stock shock towers and wondering about an aluminum option. I tend to stick to very minimal amounts of aluminum on my SC trucks but wanted to know if going aluminum for this reason on the 4x4 would be a good idea (it is certainly not like adding an aluminum bumper and asking if that would bend). I would obviously continue to run the plastic body mounts so that there is still some room for flex in this area. Is aluminum the way to go? Do the shock mount screws come loose after a pack or two like they tend to do with the plastic towers (they come loose in my slash 4x2 with RPM towers too). Is this resolved with a little extra thread lock or pipe tape? The only other aluminum on the truck are the stock PE parts and the totally necessary upgraded motor mount as well as a shaved battery strap to accommodate my lipos when mounted toward the back of the tray. Thanks for the help!

i like the aluminum towers for the increased durability, run the strc one on the front, traxxas one on the rear. strc ones are a bit lighter. i had a problem with screws coming loose with the plastic towers was why i switched to alum. used blue loctite and havent had an issue since, other than bending my rear strc one. rpm has shock towers for the 4x4 now http://www.rpmrcproducts.com/product...sh3.htm#towers

I have been running the strc towers front and rear. Recently at the track with a large jump gone wrong landing on the roof bent my rear shock tower over really bad....................I was able to bent it back and keep running but overall the rear one will bend pretty bad if you land square on the roof from a high air. The screws will be fine if you use blue locktite. I've been running it foar a while now with it bent back so, overall it was not that big of a deal?

I'm happy w/ the strc mount as well. With the D8's installed and some good abuse, I still haven't had any complaints with it.

I will have to see if my LHS has either the traxxas parts or the STRC parts in stock. I might be buying a bunch of STRC items as I have been thinking about doing the LCG mod with the rustler chassis on my 2wd!
