Default rc8.2 short course conversion

I've had a great idea of getting an rc8.2. After looking at a couple of other forums, i've seen people using buggy chassis' on their sc8's to shorten the wheelbase and most 1/10th sc bodies fit perfect. I'm thinking of getting an rc8.2 and getting the sc8 front and rear bumpers and a 1/10th sc body, if anyones done this, please could you give me your opinion on it.

the rc8 suspension is wider than a 1/10 sc. i have an sc8, which is similar to the rc8. i set a slash 4x4 body on the tires, and they come out farther than slash 4x4.

also if you race the rc8 in the 1/10 sc you will most likely be at a disadvantage because of the weight difference.

for example take a team rce lcg slash 4x4 vs an sc8. Associated says the sc8 weighs 9 pounds rtr. Team RCE on the other hand says the slash 4x4 weighs just over 5 pounds.

oh i'm not using it for racing, i'm keeping it nitro and just bashing with it and i've done some research about the body, the hpi blitz body apparently has the perfect width

ok. it should work, im just not sure how much shorter the rc8 chassis is compared to the rc8t/sc8 chassis.

I'm also thinking of making a 1/10 SC using the RC8e buggy as the platform, I checked it using my SCTE as the guide line, the width and length are good, my SC body's fit great..now on the weight..the 9 pounds that AE listed for the RTR is up there for a few reasons, one, the nu castle motor is heavy..2..the full cage is a bit heavy..and it's an 1/8th scale....but the Losi isn't what I'd call light..mine (before the diet) was 6 pounds & 8 ounces..I think you could get the AE in the 6 pound range..maybe the low 7's..I have a few ideas on how to do this..

You are going the right route. I love my conversion and think it will hold up against any SCT. Check out my thread for some pointers in case you haven't gone to the dark side yet!

SNR makes SC8 shock towers that have RC8.2 geometry.

Unless you already have a RC8, I would hold off. Rumor is AE is releasing a SC8.2 with the same upgrades the RC8.2 got over the version 1. Street date is sometime late summer.

But I think he is doing the same as I did, converting the rc8 to get into the same sized wheelbase as all the other sct out there. Keep going with this it is an awesome conversion.

If anyone gets this done, please post a parts list.

The only thing you really have to do is get body mounts and bumpers on there.

Oh yeah, and get some way to mount 12mm hex wheels on it as well.

De racing makes 17mm sct wheels that fit 1/10 tires, the sc8 wheels work as well. The new sc8.2 body mounts with the towers look pretty promising. I have a build thread that I will post a parts list. Pretty much, you got it. Bumpers, wheels, and body mounts!

Thanks. I was just looking over my 8.2 and really want to build another one as a SCT.

Well it won't let me respond to your pm for some reason so here is an answer.

It just looks really high when on the stand. Once it sits on the ground it dropped to what I would call a low ride height for the body. Yes the towers are pretty high on the rc8. That is why I have been working on the 8.2 conversion. This gives a lower center of gravity and the towers are a little over an inch shorter. I am just having a tough time finding the sc 8.2 body mounts.

I did notice however you are running an sc8. That is slightly larger than what I run. Mine is on the buggy chassis which will open up way more body options for you and you can run incognito with other 1/10 scts. The sc8 is an rc8t with the buggy arms.
