I was about to order 8.5's but the track owner told me get a 17.5 so I can race the stock and mod class if desired. A 17.5 actually won the mod class a couple weeks ago when they didnt have enough 17.5's show up to make a class. I guess there are lots of them now since they are easier to control. It's a medium size outdoor clay track and I have no idea where to begin with gearing? I am a newb when it comes to racing and I have never ran a sensored system before. I have read about timing too but have no idea what that will do, doesnt changing the gearing do the same thing? Any help is appreciated, our first race will be the 16th with hopes of a practice night before then. Last edited by Kanati; 06-06-2012 at 05:05 PM.

This website will help you. It does not list the Reedy Sonic as a choice, but you can select a 17.5 of similar kv like the novak or tekin and get very close. My Reedy Sonics like end bell timng. RC Gearhead - Browse

What kind of end bell timing are you guys running? My RS at 25/78 is at 25 degrees on the can, and 1 or 2 of boost thru the lrp esc. Runs great, but 170 after a pack. I'd like to drop 20 degrees... I also have an RS 8.5 in my 2nd SC10, it was coming off 150-160...I had an old Novak fan I zip-tied on to the bumper brackets above the motor just for sh*ts and giggles...it came off at 118! Not taking it off until it breaks!!! Debating on grabbing another fan for the 17.5!!!!
