My stock tires are literally tearing apart. Any suggestions? I have cash for one set so I may need to use rears for front and get suburbs for the rear.

Hard compound block tread tires. Dead serious. Best I've come across so far are the original Traxxas Slash tires in Spec compound. Here, read 'dis: Scx60 on carpet Last edited by OTE_TheMissile; 01-10-2012 at 07:49 PM.

Hmm. Traxxas Tires are cheaper too. Everyone at my track runs clay compound suburbs and aka's with good hookup, the guy with the slash seems to be sliding around like a nut.

Most likely that truck isn't setup. A good setup will help keep you from sliding around so much. That might also be your tire wear issue too, a bad setup can wear out tires pretty fast. I learned this when I used to race Vintage Trans Am in the parking lot of where I used to race at. Once I got a good setup I went through tires much slower.

At the carpet track I have been racing at, every one is useing kyosho fronts and biltz d compond rear. The biltz take a wile to break in but my buddy has a way of sanding them down so there good right away :) That is what Im going to as soon as my go bad. Right now Im useing the stock front SC10 tire on front and back. Thay work good but thay dont last to long.

I used to run JConcepts bar codes on all 4 courners of my SCTE, but they didn't last too long. I used to cut grooves in them with the dremel to keep them going. Once they were down to slicks, they were a little skiddish in the rear. But HAULED on pavement. The problem with carpet is, if you use a pin tire, they have the tendency to pull the material up and keep it stuck in the tire. Then the small pins don't work. Some tracks will turn you away if you show up with pins. I'd like to see how a set of AKA rebars perform on the carpet. They stick like glue on the indoor track here, but that is a rubber mat track. Rebars with about half the tread sanded off are pretty hot for 2wd..

The one racer is using suburbs and they do well. My friend is using aka enduros and they hook up but wear down since its a big heavy 4x4. They use clay not super soft.
