I ordered a Turnigy/EZRun 60 amp ESC and EZRun 3900KV (10T) motor combo. I need some help to sort out gearing before it arrives. I have the stock 18/87 RTR gearing right now. What should I run with the brushless? Do I need the 75 tooth spur like the kit comes with? Please let me know what you have had success with. Thanks

I say your close, now it depends on your running area. Get a 16, a 17 and a 19 maybe a 20-21 if where your running it is smooth and wide open. 16 if it's rough and or tight area, 20 would be smooth and open. I'm running 18/87 with the 3500 vxl motor. Plenty fast, good torque. Track I went to is not to tight so gearing was great.

Really? That sounds kinda low. I was running 22/81 on my VXL and it stayed cool, even after 20 minutes of HARD running. This was bashing in a pretty open area though...might drop it a little for the track. I've actually geared it up for now though...24/81. Haven't tested it yet, but I expect it to work well. I dunno if I'll like it as much, but I figure I might as well try it since 22/81 didn't get the ESC or motor very hot.
