22/88 is all I've ever used with a 10.5.

Throttle profile low (2-3) in speedo and motor timing set to 2/3 advanced (SS Motor)...temps no more than 130 after a 10 minute race.

were you bashing for a solid battery pack. mine gets warm but not hot. I don't usually bash around but race mine for 5-10 min heats or so.

Go 22/88 and see how hot it gets. Thats what i started with in my blitz and it is the limit for me. I only bash around, but if i drain a full 5000mAh lipo without stopping much my motor is getting hot (not too hot), but hot so i would not go any higher on the pinion or lower on the spur to start with

I'll be racing on a smaller track that has really soft loamy corners and hardpacked straights. One full lap only takes about 45 seconds.

I noticed that alot of guys like using the 88t spur.
Is there a difference from the 83t ?

yea, 5 teeth

bigger spur makes for a higher gear ratio. same as getting a lower tooth pinion.
