Default 550 motor

Any body running the new Novak havoc pro ballistic 550 short course motor? I put it in my blitz last week just before race day and all i can say is wow, talk about power. Wondering what people are running for gearing on this set up?

I dont think many people will be using that motor since it is designed for the 4x4's and is major overkill for a blitz. I would imagine trying to get around a track with that motor would be very tricky. You would see me at the start line doing donoughts the whole race

lol it's meant for whatever it'll fit in, i say. the screw pattern fits a traditional 540 motor mount so actually strapping it to the transmission will work. the only trouble i think would be finding 5mm 48p pinions. if you can find a good selection of those, it would make an awesome basher setup. they run very very cool, have lots of torque, and have a smooth powerband from what i've heard. would be great in a sand machine or some other loose surface :)

It's not that hard to go around the track. The motor is very smooth.

I agree with ya, while it's not the usual setup... Hell why not? I thought about dropping one in my SC10 just for chits and giggles. Will toast everything in the tranny and prolly bend my CVD's but what fun is it if you never break anything.

Default 550

Yes give it a try and let us know.I switched to 550 motors in my Losi crawler for the extra torque to compensate for the worm gear drive and I love it.The 550 is about 28gm more weight on my set up but worth it.Runs cooler and is a torque monster.
