Default First paint attempt

Bought a new SCTE roller and a proline body. Since I've never painted a body before, I wanted to attempt it on the stock body so I didn't ruin the good one.

Lots of learning with this. Need to apply the liquid mask thicker. Ended up taking it all of and then doing the parma tape. Also need to slow down as I pulled up some of the paint in spots from not letting it dry enough. Kind of a rubbery feel to it and would be spotty. Also, to make sure I have the areas covered well enough that I dont want spray. Have a slight bit of overspray right there in the white because I didn't pay close enough attention and it was so light I couldn't see it on blank body. Not until the white came on that you could see it.

Oh well, like other people, first attempts are always fun. Wish I had an airbrush. Got a tired finger from the spray cans, haha

Can't wait to get started on the Tundra Flo-Tek body. Just have to take my time.

looks good, i really dig that green. i had great success with liquid mask. You just have to brush on three thick coats, and make sure that the grain of the brush strokes are perpendicular to each other, this helps the seperate coats adhere to eachother. And when you are peeling off the liquid mask, be carefull not to remove the mask from where you dont want paint.

I think I was scared to really slop it on there. It worked GREAT. However, when pulling it up, I noticed it was REALLY thin. I also might have let it sit too long as the paint would pull up in areas I didn't want it to. The new body is getting 5 coats with the last two being some fill in areas.

The green is just the lime ice from pactra with pactra's white backing. That line in the third pic where it flops from green to yellow, is just the photo. From the metallic I would guess. The front of the truck is black metallic and the rear is charcoal metallic. Hard to see the difference in the picture

Hahaha, this was a design by progress type thing. Just look at what areas where unpainted and what could be used as points of references for taping. Like how the seperation between the white/green on the driver's side is right at the front fender body crease. Just made it easier instead of having to measure. The top I just followed body lines, haha

Funny thing is that it kind of looks like my Kawasaki Slash Didn't notice that till just now, haha
