| Love my scte too, that truck rocks! I'm looking forward to to next years showdown. This was my first big race and I had a really good time in both mod 4x4 and slash 4x4. How about that track layout? That has to be one of my favorites so far. |

| So after a full indoor season and some outdoor races last year it was time for a full teardown on my OG SCTE (now outside rig), easier than fixing it at the track. Lots of parts..... ![]() Next, SCTE.... ![]() The back of the truck is done minus the diff....I'd like to give it a test run on Thursday...we'll see. |

| ....update... All the work to the chassis is done. Just finished up the wiring minus soldering the motor wires. I'll be running it today for sure at Trackside.....and probably racing it at Clark RC Park this weekend. ![]() All that's left is turning it on (change a few speedo parameters) and build my new shocks...I'll get some pics up today as well. |

| Got it all rebuilt and ready for some laps at Trackside last Thursday and racing at Clark RC Park over the past weekend...... ![]() Had to put them next to each other (OG rig has the red servo arm).... ![]() So I decided late Friday night (imagine that) that I was going to race at Clark on Saturday, just had to find the tires I used last year and it was good to go. I showed up just in time for the first qualifier thanks to some road construction. First run just tried to get a clean run and learn the track as well as get used to being so far away from yout truck. Second and third qualifiers were better, qualified second, but I was ready for the main. ![]() Made my move to the front on the second lap and never looked back. Actually every lap in the main except for one 33 was a 30 or 31 second lap. I almost got a 29 on the last lap, but it was a 30.055. I was really happy with the way my truck worked with the upgrades/changes I've made since last year. The tires I used last year worked great, but I think there are some better options to try....Snipers or those new Square fuzzies. I just hope SCTE owners can get thier truck on a nice sized outdoor track, because I had a blast racing mine on the warm (but not humid) late spring weekend we just had. Next time I might try the 32.5 with Gold and 27.5 with Silver spring or 32.5 with the Purple front spring....something to try out. (It was kind of warm) Next time I'll be there for sure is the 23rd of next month...can't wait to go back, the Guys at Clark do a great job. Last edited by Matt Sunderlage; 05-21-2012 at 10:10 PM. |

| Matt, how often do u replace diff gears with new...if at all. I've had me scte for about 4 months and run/race sometimes twice a week. I'm in the middle of a tear down and replacing little things. Diff gears look good, just wondering if it's necessary to replace them every so often. |

It also seems like the center diff takes the most abuse over time. When I do replace the case/gears I do them all at once so they are all on the same page as far as wear. It took two races (and a few runs at Trackside too) on my OG rig last weekend before everything was fully broken in, but then the truck was working REALLY good.

| Have you noticed, Ti hingepins and shockshafts are steel but only ti-cover on top. No weightsaving there. |

Just weighed all of the King/hingepins for the truck.....stock steel 40g and all Ti 35g.....also remember the Ti hingepins are all a little longer too. They look great on the truck and will take more abuse/stay smoother longer.

| I'm new to the SCTE and am trying to improve the function of the rear shocks. Even with the suspension completely free and the stabar disconnected the rear suspension does not rebound after being compressed. The rear shocks are mounted at a poor angle to the lower control arm and the friction in the shock seems excessive when compared to my Losi 22. Do you have a recommendation for addressing this issue? I am considering Losi 22 low friction o-rings, ti-nitride shock shafts and possibly the bleeder shock caps. Even mounting the lower shock eye aft of the arm looks like it would improve the line of action. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

| I agree with you that the line of action on the rear shocks is not what it should be on a new race truck. My guess is that moving the shock to the rear of the arm will be worse due to arm strength. I believe that is the weak point of the a-arm. I have had one a-arm blow out right there at the shock mount. It was not a bad wreck so I just counted it as a flawed a-arm. I have never had another a-arm failure but it still makes me cautious about that area. I had to do quite a bit of fine sanding to get my suspension good and free. I also removed the goofy balloon wanabe rubbers. My stock Losi shocks were assembled well but on another truck I did need to do some fine sanding on the shock piston for proper fit. If you have the TLR tuning kit you could try to take the anti squat up a step. |

| So last Saturday I had an alarm malfunction Quote:

Here's what I check for if the rear suspension doesn't rebound like it should..... Check shock lenghths Replace shock orings (use Losi shock grease) Check shock shafts Check hinge pins (mainly outer) Make sure rear swaybar is free and set equally on both sides I use the middle and middle locations for the shocks with 25wt Losi oil, Orange spring, with the 1.8mm bar. (I also replace the steel locknuts in the shocks with mini 440 aluminum locknuts. Some things that seemed to help were Ti tierods/HA Pivot balls, felt more nimble. Hope this helps. A while back I'd mentioned about trying thicker center diff fluid (half 3k and half 5k) to get through the 180's better (track is rather tight in spots), it worked like a charm. I was doing some great laps at Trackside in practice last week. Should have a TLR body painted (by me) one of these days...
