Default Going to convert my Mini Trophy

Lets be honest the Mini Trophy sucks as a off road truck

It fills full of dirt and I made a screen and now it always runs hot and the suspension travel sucks or lack of and it hangs up easy a lot

I bought my Mini Trophy, thinking it was going to be bad ass, so I replaced all the bearing and all new CVD axle shafts and CVD drive lines

And it was ready to rip and it sucked so bad it was a total disappointment, so its been sitting ever since

So setting it up for Rally and the street is the best solution, cause I would never get my money back out of it

It won't let me post pictures anymore cause my paid subscription expired

And I have been on twice in 6 months if even that not paying for a year and not use it

I store all my pictures at Smugmug and I then link to them in a post using [img][/img] tags. Should be able to do the same from any online storage site like Photobucket etc.

no no no

I am not paying for a another green star to post pictures

Cause there is no option to post pictures when I post, when I paid for the star, it gives me the option to post pics

Most of my posts except this one have pictures

I used to be on here a lot then it died and been sucking ass ever since

This site is dead and has been for years, look around and you can see my point almost instantly

Some sections are great and popular, while others suck and there is no body

Seen the same posting for years and there is very little new postings

My posts from years ago are still on the same page, in the same place

which means no one is posting new stuff to move me down the list or on to the next page

Same shit different year same old posts

This place is dead and waste of time

Its just a matter of time and this place will be gone also

I believe you might be misunderstanding what Gramps is saying. You do not have to have a star to post pictures on here. You can use img tags from any photo hosting site and have the images appear here. Photobucket has a one click feature that copies the pertinent information for you and then you simply paste it here. Here is some more information about posting pictures: Posting Pics For Dummies

As to your comments about the site, yes, things are not as busy around here as they used to be. However, there are still a dedicated group of members who participate on a daily basis and are here to assist others. I respect your opinion and will defend your right to express it, but ask that you follow the forum rules that everyone is asked to abide by. It clearly states in the rules that "RCSC is a fun place, we try not to keep people from having a good time." (This is found under the Helpful Tips section of the forum rules) If you want to post your build thread, that is great, please do as we would like to see someone doing something with the mini trophy, but please don't post things such as what you posted above with the profanity and combative tone. That is not what this forum is for.

Your wrong, I had a green star and was able to post pics off my desktop and camera and cell phone

Now there is no option to open the advanced, where you would your pick your pictures from my desktop or the cloud, or Photobucket

My green star that I paid for in the beginning of 2016, expired in December 2016, I did not renew it

Cause this place is dead, and my post have not gotten any responses in years

Even after say how it is, I didn't lie, I said the truth

I can not post pictures, cause before I could post pics in my threads and in the wanted and for sale section

I don't use photobucket never have and never will,

Not paying for another Green Star, to post pictures

And still not getting reply's even after I said this place sucks ass

I get one person that didn't like the truth

The rest do not give a XXXX

OK, being able to post pictures directly from your desktop is one of the benefits of having a paid subscription, but it is not the only way to post pictures on here. As Gramps and I have both said, you CAN post pictures using IMG codes and have them appear here, and if you CHOOSE not to, that is your choice. I capitalize these words for emphasis, not to be combative or to be insulting so please don't take it that way. RCSC is a place where people can ask questions, share build threads, have off topic conversations in chit-chat, and buy and sell parts/kits in the classifieds, but what you can't do here is continue to be vulgar and spread misinformation. Saying that one can't post pictures without a paid subscription simply isn't true. For a new member that comes across your thread and sees that you have said that you can't post pictures without paying money is going to drive people away. What they need to see is that you WON"T post pictures without your subscription.

When you complain about the traffic here just remember what you yourself have said:

If yourself only come here twice in six months, why hold others to a higher standard?

If you want to be a productive part of the forum, please do so; we need all the warm bodies we can get. What we don't need is people who don't want to follow the forum rules and create an environment that is not conducive to the growth and prosperity of the site. By continuing to use profanity in your posts as well as the aforementioned spreading of misinformation you are making it so that others won't want to be here.

Going back to the original subject, how is the rally conversion going?

Here is my Mini Trophy

I found online article about how a person converted their Mini Trophy

Too a Rally car setup, they are the first 2 pictures

I then modified mine too match, I found Rally car rims and tires online

Not sure about height of tires needed,or if I want too buy dirt and street tires or both

And its hard to find any car or truck bodies with a 12.3'' in wheelbase

With a low profile for Rally style and because of the rear shock towers

On the Mini Trophy, you either use the body to cover them

Or have to modify the body, so it looks decent and does not look hacked up

And the wheelbase falls between a 310 to 315 mm body,

which is the same between 1/10th scale and 1/8th scale,

1/10 is too small on some bodies and 1/8 scale is too big on some bodies

And I don't have the patience to learn how to paint bodies and attach stickers evenly

So I want a pre-painted and detailed body

Been also looking for a decent hard body with a low profile which is even harder to find

What started the Rally car bug was

I bought a used Tamiya TA02, and its the same thing its got a 10'' wheelbase and it falls between some bodies are too small and some are too big, and the wheelbase on the body would be off

Wouldn't look right or would need trimmed, like the front wheel wells on the Civic body, It will work for now cause I'm looking for a hard body or Vintage bodies

The Civic body is 24 years old and the chassis is 22 years old, and old school, and parts are available for TA02 and other Tamiya's Chassis that are compatible

I like it, I have torn it down and cleaned all the old grease out the diff's and housings, and cleaned all of the plastics gears, and resembled it, used Traxxas waterproof servo for steering

Going to order the bearing kit, cause the plastic bushings are wore out and I need a couple smaller battery packs and need to figure out tires and height need also

Its not much of a Rally cause of the suspension, but is perfect to rip around the Walmart parking lot and in the front of my house

Going a different direction with the TA02, I bought this Sand Scorcher body

Either slam it too the ground or lift it a little to give it a Rally look

I found 2 Flat Four motors one is a Single Carb and one is a Dual Carb

And this very expensive Flat Six Porsche Motor

The single carb one is like the original kit

I'm leaning towards the dual carb motor

I'm really digging the lowered ones

Cause slow and low is the tempo and just cruise the Vista

It also looks good with low profile off road tires

It would look good slammed with street tires or slicks

That's a good looking TA02 you've got there. I restored my Toyota Prerunner many years ago to match my dads 1:1 and have kept it mostly vintage. They are a lot of fun to putt around with even today. I have mounted 190mm rally bodies and the HPI rally tires (from the original RS4 Rally car) and it was a pretty fun little project. I love those satin 5 spoke Tamiya wheels; they are the nicest wheel Tamiya ever included in a kit IMO. Here's the prerunner as it sits now

The Sand Scorcher body didn't look right with a 10'' wheelbase

I flipped the rear swing arms and shortened the wheelbase to 9.2''

Now it looks like it should, I need wide rear wheels and tires with more side wall

And my extra Mini Trophy drivers don't look too bad in the body either

Found this Ridgecrest body is my stash pile, it has a 12.3'' wheelbase and doesn't really look that bad, I have extra SCX10 body mounts, going to look and see if I can find them, and figure out how mount the posts too Mini Trophy cage

I going to use these G-Made 1.9'' stock looking wheels, I bought these for the Mini Trophy cause they have 0 offset like the OG HPI Mini Trophy wheels, and bought a set of Generic Mud Thrashers, a while back

I figured out, if I use my 11mm wheel wideners it creates space between the rear wheel and the swing arm, I then can mount the 2.2''/3.0'' tires and wheels from my EXO,

There is a set of Bandlands, a set of Trenchers and a set of Street Fighters and the red bead lock matches the red on the Ridgecrest body

Maybe I could gear it, to run the 2.2''/3.0'' it would be better with 1.9'' wheels and tires

Here is the other 2.2''/3.0'' and the G-Made stockers, When I used the Original Mini Trophy body, I flipped the side body mounts, which creates more space in the rear fender wheel wells and was able to fit 1.9' Flat Irons

But there a little too tall for my liking, I also got a set 1.9'' Tomahawks which are a good height but too aggressive for asphalt, the Mud Thrashers should work on asphalt

The thing I like about the 2.2''/3.0'' wheels and tires, they are tall enough that the Mini Trophy suspension can bottom out and not touch the ground, with the 1.9'' if its bottoms out it will scrape the ground

The 1.9" wheels and tires would be a better choice performance wise since you want your chassis to hit before the shocks bottom out to alleviate stress on the shock and shock towers. When the chassis hits before the shocks botto out the force is spread over a much larger area and doesn't really harm anything (other than scratching the chassis). When the shocks bottom out first all of the force is concentrated on the weakest point, be it the shock body, shock cap, shock shaft or the tower itself. If you can run a slightly longer shock or run the shocks in a way to increase up-travel then the 2.2/3.0" will offer more clearance around the knuckle.

I'm going with the 1.9's, cause I don't think I can gear it correctly to run the 2.2''/3.0'' with out creating too much heat, cause when I first got my Mini Trophy it had a blue Fuse brushless motor and the matching Fuse brushless ESC

And the guy raced it on a carpet track and admitted to me it ran hot all the time, and shortly after I got it, I was running it outside in the dirt and it smoked both the Motor and ESC, I need to figure out some way of creating airflow and ventilation with Ridgecrest body

Cause I'm thinking about removing the drivers and using a AE3 and a Castle 2900KV motor, its the stock setup for a EXO, so it should be alright

I can also got the same set up for the TA02, it should be even quicker cause, it lighter then Mini Trophy or the EXO, cause the Castle 3800KV and the SCT MMP would be a little too much

The 3800KV and SCT MMP is a good combo for my EXO

I just ordered a new set of G-Made 13mm wheel wideners, cause the 11mm ones are for a Mini Revo and I used my Dremel and widened the slot for a bigger axle pins

Now there is slop and wobble even if the wheels are tight, the 13mm ones have the right size slot cut into them and should be tight and not sloppy like the ones I modified

13MM is the shortest cheap ones I could find, RC4WD makes a set of 12mm but not paying over $30 even with free shipping, my new 13MM ones were less than half of the 12mm ones, shows your just paying for the name

Cause the G-Made ones are just as good as the RC4WD ones, its the label and name not paying for the label and name

I also have this New Bright Dodge Ram Truck Body that has a 9 1/2'' wheelbase, I had to completely cut out the bed and make a Tonneau cover to cover the bed and mount the rear body posts

I need to buy some new front body posts, cause the ones I got now are too short to come up thru the body

The Truck body looks pretty good, needs painted or the black stripped off

Not sure how to layout the body holes,

And don't want to drill holes in the wrong places

again I need longer front body posts

I used spacers to move the rear body posts forward so they would come up thru the roof, instead of under the rear window

and above the license plate light bezel, like some others I seen mounted up

The rear posts with the spacers seem to shift around pretty easy, and I can't get them tight enough

I have been looking at other Tamiya body posts sets and found a set of TA03's

that will work for the front and has rear mounts that are spaced

But sure not if they will work, I will keeping looking

It looks like there is a bug with the PM system so I'll try to answer your question here. If you are looking for better on road handling, try going a fair bit stiffer on the spring rate and heavier on the oil. I'm not sure on the lengths but maybe a TC spring would work or if that's too short try a buggy front as that's the next shortest spring i can think of that would come in a stiffer rate. As for rally tires, have you tried the HPI Super Rally tires? They are 2.2" and should be a little taller than the standard 1.9" TC rally tires. I hope this helps!
