I bought some Losi shocks off ebay for my Blitz because at the time I was told they were awsome I have them on, but it seems like the Blitz isn't heavy enough to get a chance to "absorb" some of the suspension .. When I go over bumps in the yard, its like the whole blitz just flops around, it's like the shocks are either too stiff, or the blitz isn't heavy enough to push the shocks down .. what should I do ? do they sell some nice "soft squishy" shocks ? should I run with no oil and just air ? what will that do ? change preload ? I thought it's on the softest setting already ...

Sounds like either the spring preload or spring rate is too high, or your need heavier shock oil. 35+w oils will help out but I need a picture of your ride sitting on the ground A good ride height is keeping the drive shafts "level" and or "Depressed" instead of "Inclined" Try and think of it as the "springs" will change ride height depending on the "softness or stiffness" and the shocks built in "adjustable preload" "Oil weight" allows you to choose how fast you want your suspension to move around and absorb impacts. 20w being very light and 50w being much heavier. A nice mixture of the right springs and oils will greatly reduce the hopping and flipping. Last edited by WPSC10knewb; 08-03-2012 at 09:44 PM.

Ok here's some picstures, I'm not exactly sure what to take a picture of. I beleive I turned the nut on the shocks so the pre-load is on the softest setting, so there is the least amount of preload when I push the blitz down with my had on the front, it comes back up just fine. When I push down on the rear, it stays down, and takes almost 10 seconds to come back up I believe I have 40 wt oil in the shocks if I push the blitz down in the back, then pick the blitz up so the rear tires are off the ground, you can see the rear shocks coming back up VERY slowly, like 10 seconds still ![]()

To thick of oil/not enough holes in the pistons or not enough spring pressure pushing the a arm back down or a combination of both. That's just my guess.

Thanks. Is a lower weight oil softer, or the opposite ? ?

Comparing oils.. Light weight is compared to water as Heavier weight is compared to maple syrup As the shocks piston move about it "rakes" through oil, like swimming.. maple syrup will surely slow you down. Faster movement lighter oils or bigger holed pistons Slower movement heavier oils or smaller hole pistons Your suspension should not take that long to return to full drop, even with 40w oil its should be able to drop in a fraction of a second. Check for binding in your shocks Even with light springs gravity should pull it right down fast and smooth.

im going to vote friction in either the shock or the arms. take the shocks apart and try sanding down the outside rims of the piston to slightly reduce the diameter. Put 40-45wt in the front and 30-35wt oil in the back and get some softer springs. can't really tell, but those springs look way too long and stiff for the blitz. also, i don't think those are losi shocks. probably generic brand shocks FOR a losi kit.

Hey everyone. I removed one of the rear shocks .. I took the spring off, and unscrewed the shock, let out all of the oil.. with no oil, and the cap off, this thing is extremely hard to push in, as in, there's no way the Blitz's weight landing from a jump is going to push these down enough to get any use out of them .. At this point I'm thinking I should just throw these in the trash and theres nothing I can do to make these shocks soft enough to work properly.. Is there anything I can try or do ? I really don't know anything about shocks so I'm not sure what to look for ..

If it wont compress with no oil then there's something defective with the shock

Screw the bottom link end off the shaft Push the shaft and piston right out the top, take some sanding paper and take some material off the pistons edges. This will help the piston move more freely inside the shock. If this does not help, throw them away...

One final possibility could be that the orings are kinda jammed up in there or too large of ones were used. | |

Well I took them completly apart, and used a drill bit to make the hole where the "rod" goes though larger , then I decided not to use shock oil at all, I took it off my jumps and got around 4 feet high, 10 feet long, about 20 times with no problems .. I think it might be bottoming out in the front from time to time, but so far, nothings broke .. I dunno if it is better or worse than stock, but I will say it's 100 times better than what I had before ..

With no oils in your shocks they will bounce constantly, the handling will be even better with about 40w oils back in them

Just wondering, How come you are running 2.2 wheels and monster truck tires? Have you ever ran SC specific tires other than the stock RTR maxxis treads?

just because it rides better through the grass, and gets stuck less at construction sites.. I have no legit races to enter around here . I drove it with the stock wheels and tires and it was fine, this is just better for what I'm doing ..
