Default Blitz SCB is here!

I bought this Blitz as a roller about 6 months ago, just in time for my local indoor race track to shut down so I never got to race it. I started traveling to other outdoor tracks in my area only to discover that most outdoor tracks have been designed with large jumps catered to 1/8 cars and my 2WD SCT's were flailing in the wind with severe parachuting. Several of us got together and started a new class for SCB and here is my first attempt at converting a Blitz into an SCB:

Here are some pics of my second attempt to get my Blitz to conform closer to not yet released SCB rules. I now removed the rear bumper, added the rear section of the DB roll cage, removed the front sway bars to appease a more scale appearance and installed a MERV wing:

Very cool. Could you snap some pics without the body? Also, what chassis are you using?

It looks like the stocker minus the body bumpers on the side

That makes sense. I couldn't make out what those "tabs" were sticking out. I'm guessing the "body" is an undertray and he added the roll cage. I like the affordable ingenuity.

I actually plan to race this in my local SCB Class, and if it does well enough, I'd like to try racing it in the Short Course Showdown Series, only problem is that I want to make sure all the rules are followed so I don't catch any flack. I figure all 2WD SCT ROAR rules would apply, then make it as scale as possible to look like an SCB. Question is if I've made it scale enough without sacrificing durability?

Thanks, it's actually a stock chassis with overtray + Kyosho Ultima DB rollcage + Exceed Sunfire Wing

exactly right!

I plan to eventually remove those tabs, but don't want to commit to ruining the chassis if I can't race it as an official SCB.

It would be a lot easier if ROAR would publish rules for the SCB class so I can be certain that this car meets the requirements. I suspect the lack for published rules is the #1 reason why most manufacturers haven't jumped on the 2WD SCB bandwagon yet :(

It does away with the parachuting effect but I would put a few small holes in the overtray where the esc is as it could overheat

Good idea, I actually have a vent hole inside the cockpit of my Turnigy DB as that's where they mount the ESC for that design, I was thinking of the same spot for this Blitz which is still in roller form, I haven't actually raced it yet.

Very cool! I wish ROAR would have phased out the B4.1 and 22 style buggies and completely switched the 1/10th buggy class to these things.

Technically, Kyosho has already done just that with their RB5 platform:
Kyosho Ready Set Sand Master Buggy - RC Car Action

Problem is, there are now two different size platforms from Kyosho alone because they also have a RT5 based Ultima DB which I believe was the first SCB to market: KYOSHO°√PRODUCT | ULTIMA DB

What to do now???

I finally got to race my FrankenBlitz this past weekend and I absolutely love it!

Here is some video of it in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL5wBkkUyk4

After I shot the video, I later changed out the ProLine Calibers that were on it, as seen in pics above, and found that ProLine Blockades M2 in the front and ProLine Bow-Fighters M2 in the rear worked best for my current track conditions and was able to pick up TQ and the Win in the A Main... I really attribute the win purely to tire selection as everyone else was sliding all over the place.

Holy moly. I love this. I love you for creating it. If this thing were a horse, I'd petition congress to recognize the validity of equine civil unions so I could marry it.

Thing looks cool. How's that sway bar setup work for you. And is it custom or did it come off a different brand?

I bought this Blitz ESE used and the sway bars were already installed, I just assume they came with the kit. I have since removed the sway bars and found that the car handles better without the sway bars on my local bumpy track. If I switch over to an indoor high traction track and start to traction roll, then I may re-install the sway bars.

Any update on this, thinking of taking a stab at this.

Would a Hyper TT wing be too big? can't seem to find the wing you listed?
