Default Baja 5B - Help on getting bash ready

I have been into RC for a while and have Nitro and Electric. One of my good friends just moved away and left me his 5B as a gift . It is completely stock except for a failsafe and a air filter upgrade. He always babied it, I think I have seen him jump it like 4 times in the last few years he had it. He was always saying that it was heavy on the back end and that jumping or bashing would be hard. I never did jump with is cause it was his, but now it is mine . So my question is, is there anything I need to upgrade or do to make it bash ready or advice on bashing?

just jump and bash the crap out of it and then just upgrade the parts as they break.

If you want to sink a few bucks into it and make it stronger here's a few upgrades:

HPI aluminum clutch carrier
Turtle Racing (TR) shock towers
TR front chassis brace
TR rear tranny brace
Outerwares shock and intake covers (must have for bashing)
TR billet pullstart (you won't have to replace the stock one every other run)
PhatDad billet engine brace kit (the stock ones are probably the first thing you'll break)
I order all my stuff from DDM and they'll have all these parts

Just about forgot - RPM upper and lower a-arms all 4 corners. A lot stronger and if I remember correctly they have a lifetime warranty

Hi,

learning to fly anything is a real challenge
Best bet is to find some nice smaller jumps in a good area, the jump should have a nice smooth landing slope, the take off is important, not too much throttle, controlling a 2WD in the air is the hardest, because of rotational effects[giro effects] of the wheels[4WD is a bit easyer]

After leaving the ground, braking the rotating wheels makes the nose go down, more throttle makes the nose go up.Try to be gentle with the throttle/brake control and keep practicing.

Best of luck,
T.

PS,The Stock Baja is pretty tough right out the box if you can master the landings.

The best upgarde is a losi 5ive lol its hard to break and flies better than most 1/10.

As that was a joke its true lol.

The 5b imo will never be true basher worthy bacause even with above listed parts its still a pile in the air and breaks lookin at it wrong unless you dump 6k into it,even then not as tough as a 5ive.

I would try to make or find a track as that's the best spot besides a open field for the bajas

My 5SC flies just fine and does not break, you just can't be stupid about what your jumping. You have to size up the jump by taking the run a a few slower speeds first.
