Default RC8Be Conversion to SC 4x4

Converting an RC8Be to 1/10th SC

Electrics will be:

-Tekin RX8

-Novak 4.5 550 can

Looking for ideas on gearing for a good size indoor high bite clay track.

Has stock 46 tooth spur on it.

Any ideas on diff oil weights would be good too.

Not sure if this project ever finished, but I have seen a few people do this, and it worked out pretty good, Plus I've also seen this conversion in the magazine a while back too....I can't remember if it was RC Car Action or RC Driver....here is a video a found of a "short wheelbase" SC8 conversion in action:

SC10 4x4 (RC Monster converted RC8) running on my track - YouTube

I know Jim Hustins (on this forum) raced his converted SC8 very successfully, he would know all about it if you need more info.

I just got into 1/8 with a jammin x1cr I converted and love it. but I think I lost it to my son. I still love the sct so I found a rc8b to convert to electric and into a sc8

Is there a reason why I can't run this in the 1/10 class?

It has the shorter chassis, and the same width and wheelbase as my other sc trucks. All I need to do is get the DE 1/8 short course wheels. The Losi is based on an 1/8 chassis. In an open or mod class I cant see a problem. I dont run roar races just club stuff.

Depending on your track, they might let you run it with the 10th scales--the dimensions should be the same on the short wheelbase SC8....the only issue you might have is that they might force a 2S LiPo rule on you, and the SC8 won't run well being such a heavy truck....I think you would at least need a 3S pack, but that might not be fast enough.....the SC8 loves the 4S....if they let you run that, you'll be kool!!
