Default bad solder joints or to many amps?

i am running a mamba max pro with a losi 4800kv motor. 2cell 30c 4000mah lipos and the wires have come unsodered from the deans connectors twice at the battery/esc connection. is there somthing wrong with my set up or what? its just a basher and it is at full throttle a lot

what vehicle? weight is a big factor
most likely it just a bad solder joint
you want to make shure that both the connector and wire are heated simultaneously and allowed to cool slowly

Are you using the correct solder?

Did you "rough" up the terminal & clean it before soldering?

Have you checked your temps? I have seen some cheaper solders actual melt from high motor / esc temps and fail.

Its a slash 4x4. They were factory connections. I suppose I could use a file to rough up the connector eh? And what type of solder should I use to redo these? Thanks

Go to radio shack, home depot, or lowes near the soldering / welding stuff & look for a name brand solder for electronics. That should work fine... The times I've seen joints melt is with the harbor freight / super cheap stuff.

A file or sandpaper with "rough up" the surface, lightly tin the wire, but put more solder on the connector. It's always easier for the lightly tinned wire to be drawn into the connector to form a joint than than vise versa.
Once both sides have solder get the connector "hot" and as you touch the wire to the connector it will be "pulled" in and the solder will flow around the entire joint..

Pretty rare to melt the Traxxas joints. Have you temped your set-up??? The joints at the motor do carry, most of the time, the highest temps just due to resistance at the solder-joint, but again, I've seen the those 3500's @ 240 degrees before and the solders still solid.

If you can find it, Kester rosincore leaded solder is the shiz. Its what i use at work and on all my r/c stuff.

Are you using real, legitimate Deans, or a knockoff?

Get xt60 conectores there great for your setup. Not rec for high amp but plenty of guys use them with with rx8 esc's with no problems. The deans have a small contact footprint and melt. Ive seen them so bad that the wires shorted together.

Is this a sensored setup? Not familiar with the losi 4800

Make sure the truck rolls freely. I just had the bullet connectors on my motor unsolder. Found out it was a bad bearing and a bad gear in the rear end. Motor never got above 150, but the wires were hot as heck.

I'm curious about what do you mean? are you saying traxxas connectors are not good with castle or big amps?
I'm asking because I'm having issues and I'm using traxxas connectors

Melting solder=high heat. most likely a bad solder joint. If it were anything else it would screw up something else.
Traxxas connectors are every bit as good if not better than deans. If you want to be sure that you ahve reliable connectors for high current go with a minimum of 4mm bullets.

I was saying he was using a losi motor & a castle esc so there are no factory "traxxas" connections between the 2. Not that traxxas connectors are bad, but he used it in the context that because they were traxxas connections...
