Default Storage charging

I have a venom pro charger and having been told recently that I shouldn't really be storing my lipo batteries at full charge, I've been using the storage function on my charger before putting the batteries away.

The question I have is, at what amp should I be doing the storage charge at? The storage charge function only allows the battery to be charged at a max 1.0A. All my batteries are 3200 or 4000 mah and when I've been using the storage function I've been running it at 0.5A on all batteries.

Can I use 1.0A when storage charging? Am I wrong doing them at 0.5A currently? Any information will certainly be beneficial.

Cheers

If you are charging them from LVC when you take them out of the car you can charge them at your normal rate (4 amps for a 4000mah sized pack) and simply stop the cycle early

1 amp will take forever

If you are discharging down from full then you will be limited by the max discharge rating of your charger regardless of what rate you enter

Cheers

My thunder ac6 limits me to 1 amp for storage charge so that's what I use. Just make sure your cells are about 3.85v each.

Thanks crusey_aus, you've got all the answers for me!

A number of times I've charged the normal way and then cut it off at 3.8 per cell and finish it off using the storage function. Good to know this is acceptable. Thanks mate.

3.85v is an arbitrary value

Anywhere between 3.8 and 4.0v is fine
