Hey folks. Just wanted to put a plug out there for Arrma's tech support. I have emailed them a few times with a list of questions, mostly about part sizes and potential replacements. In each case they have been super helpful and theyve helped me figure things out. Theyve also mentioned that there are some hopup parts in the works, which obviously is exciting stuff. So if you cant find your answer on the forums or wherever, the guys at Arrma are really great. Just an FYI.

As in potencial replacements you mean what other brand parts will fit the fury? If so what was their feedback?

Yup all the above. They know their products inside and out and arent shy about advising on replacements. I know a lot of people will trash them for their few design flaws like the 1.5 mm diff pins and soft diff washers. But to me design flaws are inevitable (especially for a new platform like Arrma's). So IMHO its more important how a company handles the issues rather than getting it perfect. One of the reasons I like my Fury so much is that its just so novel. I mean there are like dime-a-dozen SCTs out there, all of which are essentially the same designs. Everybody rips each other off and the end result is BORING. Its great when someone comes along and puts out a different chassis design, if for nothing else but just to shake things up.

They gave some advice about trying to run the HPI CVDs but i never tried it. i am running the blitz dogbones, which fit perfectly if you run the blitz diff. With the blitz diff + dogbones the drivetrain becomes pretty much bulletproof. Other than the diff, I think Arrma got the rest of the tranny really perfect. The spur gear is interchangeable with my SC10 (which i was surprised to see). The guy at Arrma mentioned that CVDs were sort of in the works, likely for later in 2012 he said. Dont quote me on this though. C | |

ok, just picked up the ADX-10 and hear about diff issues when running Lipos and thats all i have and have already converted the stock esc to bullets and i run hard packs with the bullets in the pack(no wiring). Possibly going to brushless depending on how long the stock motor last. So i wanted to know more about the diff as in the part # for the whole diff or waht do i search for on ebay and same for dogbones and what about the cvd at the rear wheels, keep those? Also, whats the model # of the blitz if on ebay when they say its pulled from Model # 5803 Traxxas slash(just an example)

i think the diff problem was on the early models. i've ran a 7.5t brushless motor in mine all summer and have had no issues. i pulled the diff apart a month ago and it looked brand new. i would pull your diff apart and make sure it has fluid in it. or at least grease. start around 5000wt or 7000wt oil. Then you should be good to go.

We have a guy running one in our spec class and is doing pretty well with it. No one has tried to hop one up yet to run it in our mod class to see how it does. I would imagine it could be pretty decent and if you could find a diff that fit and changed the shocks, oil and springs it might be good race truck for those on a tighter budget.

i'd be interested to know more like edonsohc said to where the newer diffs are OK but i see TSR makes a hop-up diff and u can get the MIP ball bearing diff for the same price roughly so i dunno...would like to have something on hand for when it does go out so its down long but ya, the shocks are something i wouldnt mind addressing since they have yet to come out with any hop-ups yet i'll pry buy some take off's on ebay if i can find something in the same size and diameter so nothing rubs

do you have an upclose pic? i have an upper control arm and the ultra shocks look to be too big but will confirm this later but wanted to see if there is any difference cuz the stock shocks barely fit through the upper arm so i cant imagine these fitting but will also post pics if i get time tonight

I purchased a Fury for my 6yr old son and I have been replacings thing on it to make it a more race worthy truck. I have a modified Slash 4x4 that I usually race but I am thinking about running the Fury also. So far I have changed out the motor and ESC to the Traxxas Vxl system, replaced the stock shocks with prolines and replaced he diff with one from Blitz. The truck actual handles pretty well with the new shocks. They are a tight fit on the front but they do work. We are suppose to race this weekend if the weather permits so I will see how it performs then.

Nice to see someone else with a fury scott! And as far as the shocks the springs have a little rub but not to bad. The most rub is actually in the rear springs and the camber link.

I cruise through the Arrma Fury section once in a while to see if they are taking off cause they are simply awesome oval racing trucks and I keep wondering when the world will realize. They are tough as nails, and light weight too. I race sct trucks and own a large sized carpet oval track too so i see and race everything so this little diddy on the Arrma Furys is just my personal experiences. I have been beating on an Arrma Fury HARD on high traction carpet and a ton of hard hits and I can say it went a long way before i broke the diff pins. Many thousands of laps. When I go up to the track with a couple friends of an evening we tend to run several hunded laps each and I just recently broke the dif pin deal so I just got through hardened pins from a tool shop and cut 2 new ones and added new shims and it should be bulletproof now and the job was no worse than changing a servo. Arrmas are easy but time consuming to work on and do have a lot of screws to take out when digging in but they are commonly all the same screw so not as big of a deal as reassembling fewer dis-similiar screws on other trucks. I have also broke 2 right side dogbones and plan to try the blitz ones since I have them in a blitz and spares for it anyway. The original servo is weak and breaks early in the trucks life and the steering link ball cups pop off a good bit and need changed over to something else. I am using traxxas captured now. Every truck has it's short comings and the fury has few that are expensive or difficult to deal with as well as having as good of motor as any out there. The motor seems to me to run and dyno exactly the same as an HPI Firebolt so probably the same one with a diff. lable, and the ESC preforms equally as well too. So in short I will catch it for saying this but the Fury is measurably tougher and handles like a dream in comparison, to a "slash out of the box", the slash needs a few RPM parts to be as durable. I have run many thousands of laps with the fury and hundreds of crashes racing stock short course trucks on the carpet oval with it and still not broke a part not mentioned above. I personally have 2 Furys a Durango desc 210, Hpi Blitz ESE x2, Slash x2 and a few Venom Gambler sct's and the Fury will hold it's own against any stock truck and is in my opinion the most underated toughest and best handling oval racer out there for the money or maybe period. I am a huge fan of the Arrma Trucks... Starter setup for oval..........I tube the shocks to pull them down to where the chassis is running about the thickness of one of my 5000 lipo batteries off the deck, or maybe an 1/8" lower front and rear and shim the springs on the right side and it will rip around the oval. Here is my advanced recipe for oval.........When you get it going real good and start getting your cornering speeds up you will have to go back into the shocks and switch to heavier oil in the right side and maybe limit the down stroke or droop some call it, on the left. You want to create slow right side compression and use the left side wheels and tires for ballast to help prevent traction roll. Just my personal experiences as a racer and track owner, No hobby shop or sales here so no axe to grind I paid retail for every truck mentioned and run all of them a lot before posting this. In all honesty am beating on the Blitz's right now and they are coming along well but I cannot say yet that they are much better than the Arrma Fury for oval racing, at least as of yet, as I now have them handling pretty good too and the speeds are comparable at this time. I like most brands for various reasons but the Arrmas just deserve a ton more recognition. Madison RC Outlaws.
